Lumba, ACP Kofi Boakye and Mr Beautiful ushering in the New Year with smiles
The great event was marked with thrilling performances by the “Most Serious” man in music, Abrantee Amakye Dede, Ben Brako of Baya fame, the scintillating female musician, Irene Logan, veteran musician Lee Duodu and the romantic highlife star, Daddy Lumba.
Patrons of the well organised show enjoyed free champagne and good music that kept them going till the early hours of Saturday, January 2, 2010, when the fiesta finally ended.
Fans who had the patience to wait were served with a sumptuous breakfast at Restaurant Xango and the Sky Bar — Citizen Kofi style.
This never-to-be-forgotten show was attended by high profile politicians, businessmen, actors and actresses, media practitioners, members of the sports fraternity, and members of the diplomatic corps, as well as Ghanaians resident abroad who had returned home for the holidays.
The excited fans yearned for more when Ben Brako, who took the stage after Irene‘s performance, changed the crescendo of the night with hits from his Baya album that shot him to fame. There after, Abrantee Amakye Dede unleashed some of his great tunes from his best all-time albums, right from Kosekose, Enkaa Ekyire, Dabi dabi to Iron Boy.
After Abrantee’s great show, Lee Duodu of Bisa Goma fame also entertained the patrons with some of his hits including, Akpeteshie, Odompa, Mampong Dwa, and Saworoma.
The temperature increased when Daddy Lumba mounted the stage with his female dancers and dished out what he likes doing best. He performed the best songs of his career, which spans over two decades.
The show, dubbed “The Greatest among the Best”, had for the first time in contemporary Ghanaian entertainment history brought together the evergreen Abrantee Amakye Dede, Ben Brako, Lee Duodu and Daddy Lumba and the younger Irene Logan, who did their best to rock the Old Skuul folks and the youngies with a superb blend of some of their popular hit songs.
The show, a mouth-watering package from the stables of Dr Kofi Amoah of Ghana 2008 fame and Chairman of Citizen Kofi, was well produced and technically managed such that at the end of it, the fans requested for another dose, come January 2011.
After the open-sky event at the " Citizen's Bowl ", the show then moved indoors to the Club Citizen and the Hollywood Lounge, where fans had another dose of pulsating music from local and international deejays.
The fun-laden event was excellently emceed by Kwasi Kyei Darkwa, The Finest, who showed excellent skills by heightening the interests of the guests at the all-night show.
