Last Friday, the nation’s capital witnessed the opening of the new entertainment centre, Citizen Kofi, on the theme “Entertainment, Business and Possibilities”.

Located on the sixth street off Osu’s Oxford Street, the imposing centre presents six floors of entertainment activation.

The ground floor houses the Accra bar, which is a beautiful and inviting drinking bar, good for relaxation after work or at weekends, while the second and third floors house the exquisite nightclub and the VVIP of the nightclub. The fourth floor houses the performance theatre that seats 100 people and the sports bar.

The next floor is the classic restaurant known as Restaurant Zango. Beautiful and elegant, Restaurant Zango has been positioned as the main attraction of Citizen Kofi.

The same fifth floor has a sky bar that overlooks most of Osu including the Atlantic Ocean.

The opening ceremony was performed by owner and proprietor of the centre, Dr Kofi Amoah, with assistance from former President, J. A. Kufuor and a Deputy Minister of Information, Mr Okudjeto Ablakwa.

About 500 special guests drawn from the top echelons of business, entertainment and politics were in attendance.

Dr Amoah recounted his desire to create something that could be said to be better than international standards to position the Ghanaian Tourism Industry as a key player in the global entertainment industry.

On his part, former President Kufuor commended Dr Amoah for a good job done and urged him to live up to his vision of making ‘Citizen Kofi’ the topmost entertainment centre in Africa.

Mr Ablakwa also commended Dr Amoah and assured Ghanaians of the government’s commitment to support the tourism industry and make it a high earner of foreign exchange.
Satirist Kwaku Sintim Misa was the MC for the event.
